Su espatula estampa su nombre  en sus misteriosas rumbereas  , en sus rumberos y sus guajiros
  tras un gran sombrero Cubano.

Born Havana, Cuba in the 1960’s, Humberto came to the United
States in 1971 from the small town of Guanajay, Pinal Del Rio . A Place with
amazing architecture and surrounding farm land, where as a small child
he  played with the red clay soil  and charcoal opening a new world of shades
and blending techniques

Humberto started painting at the young age of seven in Cuba using red dirt and homemade charcoal
His work has been acquired by international corporations and private collectors

A word from the artist

The greens of my home land are unlike any green in the world, it is a place where nature filled the soul, where the magical blue sky and majestic royal palms embraced the landscape.

I grew up in this magical place that transforms a person, and stamps the inner core of your heart with unforgettable memories, thoughts and feelings. Cuba never lets you go. She is pure passion. She is within every Cuban

My Inspiration

Inspiration comes from my heart and my homeland. It is the core of my emotions. My paintings are filled with vibrant colors ,movement's and texture. The sugar canes reflect a nourished hunger. The drums reflects the passion I have for music
The beat of the tumbadoras (Conga drums) flow through my soul and it runs through my veins.  As a percussionist I play the drums ,Bongos and  triple Congas ,in  occasions sitting down with local friend musicians for a lfriendly jam section
The  colors and the music of my homeland are always vivid in my mind and my work.
I close my eyes and I can still smell the burned sugarcane being milled. All those thoughts are stamped in my senses and in my mind .I use vivid greens that reflect the tobacco fields that I ran through as a boy.

I use strong yellows they are the stained fingers of my mother’s hands, working endlessly in the cigar plant.  They are the strongest part of my paintings, these yellows and greens: pure love, the love of my mother.

The  texture of my paintings, parallel  the  waves of a savage sea bashing thousands of  families and children to the depths of the Florida Straights. They are the scars of many broken families lost at sea for the sake of freedom.

My Passion

I use no pre-sketch  before I star any of my  painting ,I blend and  I grind pigments to create my own colors  I let the canvas dictate and guide my pasion " we become one"
I allow my heart to flow into the canvas and from within a blank space of the canvas an incredible energy calls me.  That energy begins to fill the empty space, and images of my emotions are born into a canvas bonding them.  I let memory dictate the moment, I let feelings command the space, and I lay it bear to the viewer to experience my inner soul to experience my Cuba thru my paintings

Out of a world of multiple concepts, I attempt to isolate a singular thought that defines image, without distraction. The harmony colors pose to me, and the sweetness I recall of the sugar cane are parallel to the foundation of my mind and spirit. The Lord has given me this wonderful gift, one I feel is a true blessing.
Thank you for visiting my site and for enjoing my work!
